Fair Play in Koutchina: How Every Deal Stays Honest

How Koutchina keeps play fair: a provably-fair shuffle, server-side game logic, a turn timer, majlis moderation, and chips with no cash value.

Anyone who has played cards online has heard it after a heavy loss: “the cards are rigged.” Sometimes it is a joke, sometimes a real doubt. Either way, trust is the base of every table. A game is no fun if you do not believe the deal.

That is why we dealt with this complaint first. This article explains, in plain words, what protects play in Koutchina: the deal, the server, the timer, the majlis tools and the chip model. It also explains what to do if you think someone is cheating.

What does “provably fair” mean?

In Koutchina the cards are shuffled and dealt cryptographically, in a way that can be verified. For a player, the meaning is simple: the deck is on nobody’s side. Not the host’s, not the player with the biggest chip balance, not the veteran’s, not the newcomer’s.

The word that matters is “provably.” Fairness is not a promise you have to take on trust; it is a property that can be checked. The deal itself is verifiable, so there is no room for a hand quietly arranged behind the scenes.

A fair deal does not mean a strong hand every round. Real chance sometimes brings a run of weak hands, as it does at any table in any majlis. The difference is that in Koutchina that run really is chance, and nothing else.

Why can’t a phone cheat?

Koutchina’s game logic runs on the server, not on your phone. Your phone shows the table and sends your choice; the server makes the calls. Is that card allowed? Who took the trick? What is the score?

Developers call this server-authoritative logic, and its practical result is that no one can rig the deal. Even if someone tampers with the app on their own device, the decision is not in their device’s hands. They cannot play a card the rules forbid, and they cannot change the score in their team’s favour.

The server helps in one more way. If your connection drops, you reconnect smoothly and your seat is held. You do not lose your place because the network blinked.

The turn timer and the bots

Every turn in Koutchina is timed. A ticking ring keeps the game moving, so nobody can stall the table to wear down opponents or buy time in a tight spot.

If a player goes missing, because they got busy or their connection weakened, a bot takes their place and keeps playing. The match does not stop for three people because the fourth is away, and no round is lost to waiting.

The seat link follows the same principle: if the game has already started, a bot plays your friend’s seat until they sit down. Fairness here means respecting everyone’s time, not just speed.

The host’s tools in the majlis

Fairness does not stop at the cards. In a voice majlis people talk and laugh, and the room needs someone to keep it civil. That is why a majlis host has real moderation tools: mute, kick, ban and report.

Mute silences a disruptive voice without removing its owner. Kick removes someone who crossed the line. Ban keeps them from coming back. Report sends the matter to our team. The raise-hand queue keeps the conversation in order: listeners ask for the mic, and the host promotes them to speaker seats in turn.

The terms of use are clear. Cheating, exploiting bugs, abuse, harassment, hate speech and inappropriate content are prohibited in the majlis and in voice chat. A majlis host or our team may mute, kick or ban anyone who breaks the rules.

On privacy: the microphone is only active when you choose to speak, and we do not record or store the content of voice calls.

What if you suspect cheating?

First, tell bad luck from cheating. The deal is provably fair and the server applies the rules to everyone, so losing a round, or several, is not evidence of rigging. What remains is how people behave, and that is what reporting is for.

If you see suspicious or abusive behaviour, use the report tool in the app straight away, while the details are fresh. If you are the majlis host, you also have mute, kick and ban to protect your table on the spot.

If it needs a longer explanation, email support@koutchina.app. Give the game, the approximate time, the player’s name as it appeared to you, and exactly what happened. Since we do not record voice calls, your precise account of what was said is the most useful thing you can send.

Our team has a clear mandate. The terms of use allow us to suspend or terminate an account that breaches them, or to protect players and the service.

Why do virtual chips matter for trust?

Chips in Koutchina are entirely virtual and for entertainment only. They have no real-world monetary value, cannot be cashed out, and cannot be exchanged for money, goods or services outside the game. Koutchina has no real-money gambling and no cash prizes.

That may sound like a legal detail, but it is part of fairness. When chips can never turn into money, there is nothing to gain from cheating beyond the game itself. A win stays a win at the table, and a story to tell in the majlis, nothing more.

Optional chip packs are available in the app and handled by the App Store or Google Play, but they do not buy a better hand: the deck is on nobody’s side. There are tools for moderate play too: an age gate, self-exclusion for set periods, and daily and weekly spending limits. Koutchina is meant for adults aged 18 and over.
